The Pathos Classic Remix Integrated Amplifier is a ground-up renewal of one of Pathos Acoustics’ biggest international hits: the critically acclaimed, award-winning ClassicOne. First presented at Munich High-End 2014, the Classic Remix was designed to meet the more demanding expectations of experienced audiophiles while also appealing to a younger audience of music lovers discovering high-end sound for the first time.
Drawing on more than twenty years of hybrid amplifier design experience, Pathos refined every aspect of the ClassicOne’s circuitry for the Classic Remix, carefully selecting components purely on the basis of sonic performance. The result is a fully balanced, hybrid Class AB amplifier built around a tube preamplifier stage using a pair of 6922 (ECC88) valves, feeding a solid-state final stage operating in bridge mode. This combination delivers 70W per channel into 8Ω with a wide, deep soundstage, accurate tonal balance, a strong sense of rhythm, and extended, well-controlled low frequencies — qualities that reviewers have noted go well beyond what the amplifier’s modest power rating might suggest.
Volume control is handled by dual Burr-Brown PGA2310 chips operating in 180 steps of 0.5dB each, providing exceptionally fine-grained level adjustment while preserving signal integrity. A 6.3mm headphone output with dedicated circuitry is built in as standard, delivering 1.6W into 32Ω loads for high-quality personal listening.
For digital sources, the Classic Remix can be equipped with an optional high-quality DAC purpose-built for the amplifier, drawing on Pathos’ accumulated know-how from its Endorphin and Digit CD players, its Converto project, and the HiDac modules used in the Logos, Ethos, and InPol Remix. This isn’t simply a bolt-on converter — the optional DAC functions as “an amplifier within the amplifier,” with its own dedicated, isolated power supply feeding into the same fully balanced circuit driven by the ClassicRemix’s tube preamp stage, preserving the low noise and wide dynamic range that defines the analog signal path.
Like every Pathos product, the Classic Remix is designed and hand-built in Vicenza, Italy, and is offered in a range of finishes including Zebrawood, to suit a variety of system aesthetics.
