The Pathos Classic One MkIII Integrated Amplifier represents Pathos Acoustics’ answer to a genuine design challenge: after winning over the international audiophile community with uncompromising reference amplifiers, how do you bring that same know-how to a fixed, accessible price point? The Classic One project was conceived to do exactly that — transferring the expertise developed in Pathos’ flagship products into a more attainable hybrid integrated amplifier, without diluting the sound that defines the brand.

Inside a single chassis, the Classic One MkIII houses two genuinely separate amplifier sections, each with its own dedicated power supply. The preamplifier stage is purely tube-based, fully balanced, and runs in pure Class A with extremely low noise, high intrinsic linearity, and zero negative feedback — delivering the transparency, air, harmonics, and refinement that define classic tube sound. This feeds into a solid-state power stage running in Class A/AB with high bias current, providing the speed, dynamics, and drive needed to control demanding loudspeaker loads without imposing any solid-state coloration on the tube stage’s musical character.

The MkIII revision brings a comprehensive component upgrade over earlier Classic One versions while retaining the same recognizable design. A new Burr-Brown volume control offers improved linearity and can accept audio signals up to ±12V, preventing input saturation with high-output source components such as CD players. A high-quality, ultra-low-noise op-amp drives the MOSFET power stage, and updated speaker connectors with transparent protective housings, along with a new stainless steel power transformer cover, guard against short circuits and improve long-term reliability.

Output is rated at 70W per channel into 8Ω and up to 135W into 4Ω, with the amplifier fully bridgeable to deliver 180W in mono mode — allowing two Classic One MkIII units to be run as a pair of monoblocks, either controlled by a single remote as a preamp-less system or paired later with a conventional preamplifier. Volume control is motorized and remote-operated, with the remote itself hewn from solid wood to match the amplifier’s build quality.

As with every Pathos product, the Classic One MkIII uses carefully selected internal components, pure silver Pathos signal wiring, and gold-plated terminals throughout, and is designed and hand-built in or near the company’s factory in Vicenza, Italy.
