The Pathos Converto MkII RR takes everything music lovers appreciate about the standard Converto MkII — a high-resolution DAC, a fully balanced Class-A preamp stage, and a built-in headphone amplifier, all in one compact, handmade chassis — and adds the one feature many system owners ask for: remote control. Volume and input selection can now be handled from across the room, making the Converto MkII RR just as comfortable anchoring a full living-room system as it is sitting on a desktop.

At the heart of the Converto MkII RR is an ESS9018K2M DAC chip, decoding PCM audio up to 32-bit/384kHz over USB along with DSD64 and DSD128, and accepting S/PDIF sources — coaxial or optical — at up to 32-bit/384kHz as well. From there, the signal moves through a fully balanced, Class-A, zero-feedback analog stage that keeps distortion below 0.01% and dynamic range at a spacious 120dB, preserving the fine detail and natural tonal shading that can get lost through lesser digital front ends.

The Converto MkII RR offers both fixed and variable balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) outputs, letting it function as a full preamplifier driving a power amp directly, or as a source component feeding an existing preamp or integrated amplifier. Its onboard headphone amplifier provides a clean, low-impedance output for direct headphone listening, rounding out a component that can comfortably serve as the single hub of a digital audio system.
